Monks of Doom attack New York:

Immy's band Monks Of Doom (with fellow Camper Van Beethoven colleagues Victor Krummenacher, Greg Lisher and Chrispy Dersen) played two shows at the Club Europa in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on March 12th and 13th. Here are a few links for music and photos from the two shows:

Read what observer Prof Peter Parker of Cornell University had to say about the incident...

After discovering, from my local newspaper, a set of invigorating topics such as Unexplained Murders, Hieroglyphic amongst others were going to be featured in an interesting program of discussion, I duly attended this meeting at the Europa Hotel on the 13th.
I promised my students that I was about to attend this important meeting in preparation for the college seminar to be given at the end of this academic year. Telling them that this is part of the curriculum and believing my hype, I attended with my note-book computer.

How wrong I had been - this was not the discussion I expected but a combo of 4 musicians playing musical numbers. I tried to gain as much important information from the various topics promised but instead of using my trusty note-book, I found myself tapping to a compelling sound that wove around me. As I tried to learn more Fact About Spiders, I was drawn more into the music rather than the information I originally sought.

I left this seminar with more questions than answers, but musically enriched. I still not know the facts about spiders, or have any insight on these unexplained murders, and my students are miffed that I'm now a pot smoking, doomer Monkhead proclaiming the 'sky is pregnant!'
Wow - peace and out - Peter Parker
